In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: smb: client: fix potential UAF in smb2_close_cached_fid() find_or_create_cached_dir() could grab a new reference after kref_put() had seen the refcount drop to zero but before cfid_list_lock is acquired in smb2_close_cached_fid(), leading to use-after-free. • Dec 9, 2025In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ext4: fix deadlock due to mbcache entry corruption When manipulating xattr blocks, we can CVE-2022-50668 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67High 7.5

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ext4: fix deadlock due to mbcache entry corruption When manipulating xattr blocks, we can deadlock infinitely looping inside ext4_xattr_block_set() where we constantly keep finding xattr block for reuse in mbcache but we are unable to reuse it because its reference count is too big. This happens because cache entry for the xattr block is marked as reusable (e_reusable set) although its reference count is too big. When this inconsistency happens, this inconsistent state is kept indefinitely and so ext4_xattr_block_set() keeps retrying indefinitely. The inconsistent state is caused by non-atomic update of e_reusable bit. e_reusable is part of a bitfield and e_reusable update can race with update of e_referenced bit in the same bitfield resulting in loss of one of the updates. Fix the problem by using atomic bitops instead. This bug has been around for many years, but it became *much* easier to hit after commit 65f8b80053a1 ("ext4: fix race when reusing xattr blocks").

  • Dec 4, 2025In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ocfs2: clear extent cache after moving/defragmenting extents The extent map cache can becoCVE-2025-40233 · Computers, phones & browsers · Linux · reported by 416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67High 7.8

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ocfs2: clear extent cache after moving/defragmenting extents The extent map cache can become stale when extents are moved or defragmented, causing subsequent operations to see outdated extent flags. This triggers a BUG_ON in ocfs2_refcount_cal_cow_clusters(). The problem occurs when: 1. copy_file_range() creates a reflinked extent with OCFS2_EXT_REFCOUNTED 2. ioctl(FITRIM) triggers ocfs2_move_extents() 3. __ocfs2_move_extents_range() reads and caches the extent (flags=0x2) 4. ocfs2_move_extent()/ocfs2_defrag_extent() calls __ocfs2_move_extent() which clears OCFS2_EXT_REFCOUNTED flag on disk (flags=0x0) 5. The extent map cache is not invalidated after the move 6. Later write() operations read stale cached flags (0x2) but disk has updated flags (0x0), causing a mismatch 7. BUG_ON(!(rec->e_flags & OCFS2_EXT_REFCOUNTED)) triggers Fix by clearing the extent map cache after each extent move/defrag operation in __ocfs2_move_extents_range(). This ensures subsequent operations read fresh extent data from disk.

  • Oct 17, 2025Squid is a caching proxy for the Web.CVE-2025-62168 · Other software · squid-cache · reported by GitHubCritical 10

Squid is a caching proxy for the Web. In Squid versions prior to 7.2, a failure to redact HTTP authentication credentials in error handling allows information disclosure. The vulnerability allows a script to bypass browser security protections and learn the credentials a trusted client uses to authenticate. This potentially allows a remote client to identify security tokens or credentials used internally by a web application using Squid for backend load balancing. These attacks do not require Squid to be configured with HTTP authentication. The vulnerability is fixed in version 7.2. As a workaround, disable debug information in administrator mailto links generated by Squid by configuring squid.conf with email_err_data off.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: cifs: Release folio lock on fscache read hit. Under the current code, when cifs_readpage_worker is called, the call contract is that the callee should unlock the page. This is documented in the read_folio section of Documentation/filesystems/vfs.rst as: > The filesystem should unlock the folio once the read has completed, > whether it was successful or not. Without this change, when fscache is in use and cache hit occurs during a read, the page lock is leaked, producing the following stack on subsequent reads (via mmap) to the page: $ cat /proc/3890/task/12864/stack [<0>] folio_wait_bit_common+0x124/0x350 [<0>] filemap_read_folio+0xad/0xf0 [<0>] filemap_fault+0x8b1/0xab0 [<0>] __do_fault+0x39/0x150 [<0>] do_fault+0x25c/0x3e0 [<0>] __handle_mm_fault+0x6ca/0xc70 [<0>] handle_mm_fault+0xe9/0x350 [<0>] do_user_addr_fault+0x225/0x6c0 [<0>] exc_page_fault+0x84/0x1b0 [<0>] asm_exc_page_fault+0x27/0x30 This requires a reboot to resolve; it is a deadlock.
