CVE-2026-7472

Read More & Accordion: Time-based blind SQL Injection

The Read More & Accordion plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to time-based blind SQL Injection via the 'orderby' parameter in all versions up to, and including, 3.5.7. This is due to the use of esc_sql() without surrounding the value in quotes in an ORDER BY clause inside the getAllDataByLimit() and getAccordionAllDataByLimit() functions in ReadMoreData.php. The user-supplied $_GET['orderby'] value is only processed through esc_attr() (an HTML-escaping function) before being passed to these database functions, where esc_sql() is applied but the value is directly concatenated—unquoted—into the ORDER BY fragment of the SQL query before $wpdb->prepare() is called. Because esc_sql() only escapes quote characters and backslashes (which are irrelevant in an unquoted ORDER BY context), an attacker can inject arbitrary SQL expressions such as (SELECT SLEEP(5)) or conditional subqueries to perform time-based blind data extraction. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers with administrator-level access or above (or any role explicitly permitted access to the plugin's admin pages via the yrm-user-roles setting) to extract sensitive data from the database, including administrator cr

What to do: Affects up to 3.5.7. Update Read More & Accordion to the newest version and check its changelog mentions this fix; if there isn’t one yet, deactivate it until there is.

What it means for a small business

Read More & Accordion is a WordPress plugin. If your website uses it, the flaw is on your site whether or not anyone has noticed yet: attackers scan the whole internet for the plugins with published flaws, usually within days of a record like this one going public.

Most small-business sites run 15 to 40 plugins, and few owners know the list. You can check from WordPress itself (Plugins, then Installed Plugins), or let our free plugin check look it up by name.

How likely is an attack? The Exploit Prediction Scoring System, run by FIRST (the global association of security response teams), puts the odds of this one being exploited in the next 30 days at 0.45%, higher than 38% of CVEs. That’s low, but low isn’t zero, and the odds jump the day someone publishes an exploit. Scored October 28, 2026, updated daily.

Check your own setup

  • Is Read More & Accordion safe? Every recorded flaw in it, the version that fixes each, and whether it’s still maintained.
  • Website check: reads what your site runs from the outside (WordPress version, plugins it can see, old server software) and matches it against this database.
  • Server check: what your web server says about itself, and whether that version has known flaws.
