CVE-2026-58273

Rucio is a scientific data management framework.

Rucio is a scientific data management framework. From 1.16.1 until 35.9.0, 38.6.0, and 41.0.0rc1, the /credentials/signurl endpoint reads X-Rucio-Account instead of the account stored in request.environ['issuer'] by token authentication. Any authenticated low-privilege user can supply root as the header value and pass the root-only get_signed_url permission check. The server then returns a presigned read, write, or delete URL for an attacker-selected object using stored S3, GCS, or Swift credentials, and X-Rucio-VO can select another tenant in multi-VO deployments. This permits data disclosure, modification, deletion, and cross-tenant access on cloud-backed RSEs. This issue is fixed in versions 35.9.0, 38.6.0, and 41.0.0rc1.

Description from the National Vulnerability Database, published by GitHub

What to do: Apply the vendor’s update. The NVD record links to the advisory.

What it means for a small business

If your business uses rucio, install the vendor's update. If you're not sure whether you use it, ask whoever manages your computers.

How likely is an attack? The Exploit Prediction Scoring System, run by FIRST (the global association of security response teams), puts the odds of this one being exploited in the next 30 days at 0.56%, higher than 46% of CVEs. That’s low, but low isn’t zero, and the odds jump the day someone publishes an exploit. Scored November 7, 2026, updated daily.

Check your own setup

  • Website check: reads what your site runs from the outside (WordPress version, plugins it can see, old server software) and matches it against this database.
  • Server check: what your web server says about itself, and whether that version has known flaws.
