CVE-2026-46449

The Akamai Guardicore Platform Agent (GPA) before 7.4 for macOS is affected by a local privilege escalation vulnerability within the wapptunneld component.

The Akamai Guardicore Platform Agent (GPA) before 7.4 for macOS is affected by a local privilege escalation vulnerability within the wapptunneld component. The vulnerability is caused by a lack of input validation when the service uses network interface names to execute system utilities, resulting in command injection. An unprivileged local user with permissions to modify network interface names can exploit this by renaming a network interface to include a malicious shell payload via System Settings. When the "Log out from your IdP" action is subsequently triggered, the wapptunneld service processes the poisoned interface name, leading to the execution of arbitrary commands with root privileges.

If your business uses Guardicore Platform Agent, install the vendor's update. If you're not sure whether you use it, ask whoever manages your computers.

How likely is an attack? The Exploit Prediction Scoring System, run by FIRST (the global association of security response teams), puts the odds of this one being exploited in the next 30 days at 1.7%, higher than 76% of CVEs. That’s above average: worth scheduling this week. Scored October 28, 2026, updated daily.

Check your own setup

  • Website check: reads what your site runs from the outside (WordPress version, plugins it can see, old server software) and matches it against this database.
  • Server check: what your web server says about itself, and whether that version has known flaws.
