CVE-2026-43029

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mptcp: fix soft lockup in mptcp_recvmsg() syzbot reported a soft lockup in mptcp_recvmsg()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mptcp: fix soft lockup in mptcp_recvmsg() syzbot reported a soft lockup in mptcp_recvmsg() [0]. When receiving data with MSG_PEEK | MSG_WAITALL flags, the skb is not removed from the sk_receive_queue. This causes sk_wait_data() to always find available data and never perform actual waiting, leading to a soft lockup. Fix this by adding a 'last' parameter to track the last peeked skb. This allows sk_wait_data() to make informed waiting decisions and prevent infinite loops when MSG_PEEK is used. [0]: watchdog: BUG: soft lockup - CPU#2 stuck for 156s! What it means for a small business

Linux is on the computers, phones or browsers your team uses every day. Turn on automatic updates and restart: most of these fixes only take effect after a restart.

How likely is an attack? The Exploit Prediction Scoring System, run by FIRST (the global association of security response teams), puts the odds of this one being exploited in the next 30 days at 0.33%, higher than 26% of CVEs. That’s low, but low isn’t zero, and the odds jump the day someone publishes an exploit. Scored October 29, 2026, updated daily.

Check your own setup

  • Website check: reads what your site runs from the outside (WordPress version, plugins it can see, old server software) and matches it against this database.
  • Server check: what your web server says about itself, and whether that version has known flaws.
