In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: rcu: Avoid stack overflow due to __rcu_irq_enter_check_tick() being kprobe-ed Registering a kprobe on __rcu_irq_enter_check_tick() can cause kernel stack overflow as shown below. This issue can be reproduced by enabling CONFIG_NO_HZ_FULL and booting the kernel with argument "nohz_full=", and then giving the following commands at the shell prompt: # cd /sys/kernel/tracing/ # echo 'p:mp1 __rcu_irq_enter_check_tick' >> kprobe_events # echo 1 > events/kprobes/enable This commit therefore adds __rcu_irq_enter_check_tick() to the kprobes blacklist using NOKPROBE_SYMBOL(). Insufficient stack space to handle exception! What it means for a small business

Linux is on the computers, phones or browsers your team uses every day. Turn on automatic updates and restart: most of these fixes only take effect after a restart.

How likely is an attack? The Exploit Prediction Scoring System, run by FIRST (the global association of security response teams), puts the odds of this one being exploited in the next 30 days at 0.18%, higher than 7% of CVEs. That’s low, but low isn’t zero, and the odds jump the day someone publishes an exploit. Scored October 29, 2026, updated daily.

Check your own setup

  • Website check: reads what your site runs from the outside (WordPress version, plugins it can see, old server software) and matches it against this database.
  • Server check: what your web server says about itself, and whether that version has known flaws.
