In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: spmi: trace: fix stack-out-of-bound access in SPMI tracing functions trace_spmi_write_begin() and trace_spmi_read_end() both call memcpy() with a length of "len + 1". This leads to one extra byte being read beyond the end of the specified buffer. Fix this out-of-bound memory access by using a length of "len" instead. Here is a KASAN log showing the issue: BUG: KASAN: stack-out-of-bounds in trace_event_raw_event_spmi_read_end+0x1d0/0x234 Read of size 2 at addr ffffffc0265b7540 by task thermal@2.0-ser/1314 ... What to do: Apply the vendor’s update. The NVD record links to the advisory.

What it means for a small business

Linux is on the computers, phones or browsers your team uses every day. Turn on automatic updates and restart: most of these fixes only take effect after a restart.

How likely is an attack? The Exploit Prediction Scoring System, run by FIRST (the global association of security response teams), puts the odds of this one being exploited in the next 30 days at 0.26%, higher than 18% of CVEs. That’s low, but low isn’t zero, and the odds jump the day someone publishes an exploit. Scored October 29, 2026, updated daily.

Check your own setup

  • Website check: reads what your site runs from the outside (WordPress version, plugins it can see, old server software) and matches it against this database.
  • Server check: what your web server says about itself, and whether that version has known flaws.
