CVE-2022-47966

Zoho ManageEngine Multiple Products Remote Code Execution

Multiple Zoho ManageEngine products contain an unauthenticated remote code execution vulnerability due to the usage of an outdated third-party dependency, Apache Santuario.

Description from CISA’s Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog

What to do: Attackers are using this now. Install Zoho’s update today (ransomware groups use this one). If there is no update for your version, take the product off the internet or stop using it until there is.

What it means for a small business

ManageEngine handles email and office work, which is where invoices, logins and customer details live. Check that every computer and server running it has the update, including the one in the back office nobody touches.

Why “exploited” matters. Most published flaws are never used. This one is on the list the U.S. government’s cybersecurity agency keeps of flaws it has evidence attackers are using against real systems; federal agencies have to fix it by February 13, 2023. Treat it as today’s job, not this month’s.

Check your own setup

  • Website check: reads what your site runs from the outside (WordPress version, plugins it can see, old server software) and matches it against this database.
  • Server check: what your web server says about itself, and whether that version has known flaws.
