Showing up on both sides
- Your Google address stays your real South Carolina address. Customers in Pineville, Ballantyne or Steele Creek searching nearby can still see you, because the state line doesn’t matter to distance.
- If you serve customers in North Carolina, say so plainly on your site and in your service area, naming the parts of Charlotte you really cover.
- Use your local number. A 803 number tells people you’re in York County; that’s fine, and it’s accurate.
- Write a page about serving the Charlotte side only if you do real work there and can say something true about it.
Taxes and checkouts
South Carolina and North Carolina have different sales tax rules and rates, and local rates vary within each. If you sell online, ship, or deliver across the line, your checkout needs to charge tax by the customer’s address, and your accountant should tell you where you’re required to collect.
Listings
- Consistent name, address and phone everywhere, including North Carolina–focused directories and Charlotte-area chambers if you join them.
- Apple Maps and Bing claimed, since many Charlotte commuters use them in the car.
