Cybersecurity for law firms

Your firm’s email address moves real money.

When a buyer wires earnest money or closing funds, the instructions come from your firm. That makes your domain one of the most valuable things a criminal can borrow. Of eight Grand Strand law firm sites we audited in October 2026, five let anyone send email as the firm, and none warned clients about wire fraud anywhere we looked.

Law firms

What we lock down for a firm.

Email nobody can forge as you

SPF, DKIM and DMARC set to reject, after we've confirmed every service that sends for you passes, so a message from your exact address can only come from you.

The wire warning, where clients look

The line every closing firm should print, on your earnest-money page, in signatures and in the engagement letter, worded for your firm and your number.

Copy the warning →

Mailboxes that stay yours

Two-step sign-in on every account, and a monthly look for forwarding rules nobody set up, the quiet sign that someone is already reading the firm's mail.

Look-alike domains taken off the table

The common misspellings and other endings of your domain registered and pointed at your real site, so nobody can send from one letter off.

Your domain watched

Expiry, renewal, registrar locks and any change to where the domain points, with an alert the same day something moves.

Forms that keep confidences

Intake and contact forms on a secure connection that store entries behind a sign-in instead of emailing the details around the office.

Who this is for

Built around how firms actually get hit.

We work with law firms across the Grand Strand and South Carolina: closing attorneys, estate planning, business and real estate practices, and personal injury firms whose inboxes carry settlement payments.

Most of what goes wrong at a firm isn't sophisticated. It's a domain anyone can send mail from, a mailbox without two-step sign-in, and a client who was never told the firm won't change wiring instructions by email. Each of those is a few hours of work to fix, and we'll show you exactly what we changed.

We don't sell network equipment or work on the office computers; your IT company keeps that. We handle what faces the outside world: the domain, the email records, the website and its forms, and the response if one of them is broken into.

Questions

Straight answers.

Our IT company handles security. Why would we need you?

Many IT companies look after computers and the office network and never touch the domain's DNS, which is where email forgery is stopped. Ask them whether your DMARC policy is set to reject; if the answer isn't a clear yes, that's the gap we fill. We're happy to work alongside them.

Is this legal advice about our ethics obligations?

No. We handle the technical side and write down exactly what we did, which is useful evidence of reasonable care. Questions about your duties belong with your own counsel or the bar.

What happens if a client's wire already went to the wrong account?

The client's bank comes first, then a report at ic3.gov the same day. We can help work out how it happened, whether the email was forged, sent from a look-alike, or came from a hacked mailbox, and close the gap the same day.

A website, a booking system, an app, or the thing you've been running out of a spreadsheet for three years. A few lines is plenty.
